Improving the use of ICT in the Foundation Stage: Sandwell – Case study 1

Case study on a Sandwell infant school’s project on using information and communication technology (ICT) to support speaking, listening. Children, mostly of Bangladeshi descent, were encouraged to retell stories through role-play and drama, which was recorded using a Digital Blue, recording devices and tape recorders. The children were able to have their recorded speech interpreted by the bilingual language support. This was particularly useful as a reference for assessment, since it provided a permanent record.
