This document describes the characteristics and mathematical learning of a Year 5 child working at age-related expectations. It provides headteachers and subject leaders with a mathematics curriculum overview. This document may also be helpful in communicating to a range of audiences the mathematics being taught and learned during Year 5, for example when working with teachers new to the year group, newly qualified teachers, teaching assistants or with parents.
